ABOUT DJREDTHEMC

DJ RED The MC, was born and raised J. Harris by his mom and dad in Dallas, Texas. He attended school in Oak Cliff until moving to Desoto, TX, a suburb of Dallas during junior high. He started dejaying in 1992 doing weddings, school dances and birthday parties. He got a name for himself while in high school throwing major high school parties after his Varsity football games. After attending college in Oklahoma at Langston University he made a name for himself and became the #1 DJ in the OKC metro area.

 

While in college he majored in broadcast journalism and had a weekly radio show on the colleges station KALU 89.3 which was voted the #1 College show. Serving the metro area and surrounding colleges of Langston, OU, OSU, and UCO he then joined on with the only hip-hop station KVSP.

 

After graduating in 2003, he moved back to Dallas where he began working for WFAA Channel 8. While being in production there he still deejayed on the side. He then hooked up with Big Bink from 97.9 the Beat and began doing bigger events and clubs in Dallas. He was first known for being a MC around the Dallas metroplex. After stirring enough noise in the city he resigned from Channel 8 and signed on with Radio-One Dallas 97.9 the Beat. A radio renaissance man, DJ Red brought the total package of promotions, production, engineering, mixing, MC, and an on-air personality to the station. 

 

Currently DJ Red is the CEO of Short Tie Promotions, a member of Phi Beta Sigma, does work with Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Next Level Youth Ministry and C.O.A.C.H., an organization that helps high school student athletes pass the SAT and ACT to further on their dream into college.

 

He has done shows with or deejayed parties for Bun B , Lil Wayne, Kid Capri, Carl Thomas, Bobby Brown, Vince Young, Lil Twist, Montell Jordan, Rasheeda, Sheryl Underwood, R.L. from Next, Brandon Roy of the Portland Trailblazers, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, and many more. He has been featured on MTV Sweet 16 Dallas Edition , MTV MY Block Dallas and WFAAs Metro Dallas.

 

He has deejayed in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, and Vancouver Canada. His dream is to hit every state and major city before he retires.
